Creasey title charge target

Wisbech Town boss Dick Creasey is calling for a New Year ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League title charge.

The Fenmen manager figures his side’s fixtures over the next nine weeks or so are winnable.

Holbeach United, who beat Wisbech 1-0 on Boxing Day, and AFC Rushden are the championship favourites, but Creasey believes his fourth-place troops can put the pressure on by going on a big run during January and February.

Creasey said: “I think if you look at next Saturday until the end of February, apart from PNS (who we play in the cup) and Cambridge City (Cambs Cup), the nine or 10 league games are all bottom-half clubs.

“We have no divine right to win those games but we should be having a go at them. Everyone says the league’s over, but we’ve got to make sure that if they slip up we can nip in there.”
