Udana Ranathunga nets debut ton for March 2nd XI but Royston win in CCA Senior League

Udana Ranathunga made a spectacular debut for March 2nd XI at Royston on Saturday – scoring an unbeaten century, taking a wicket, but ending up on the losing side in the CCA Senior League Division 1.

The left-handed opener – one of three new players registered this week from Hardwick and Caldecote CC – struck 13 boundaries in his 106no, in a match reduced to 35 overs per side.

Nigel Wright added 58, during a fourth wicket stand of 113 runs.

But the home side won by six wickets with an over to spare.

March 2nd XI 219-4, 35 overs (Udana Ranathunga 106no, Nigel Wright 58), Royston 223-4, 34 overs (Nuwan Athukorala 1-22, Udana Ranathunga 1-26, Matty Vail 1-22).
