Lewis smashes 34 boundaries including three sixes

Lewis Welcher hit a career best 177 not out – the highest individual score in the club since 2013 – as March 3rds hammered Isleham 2nds on Saturday by 198 runs in CCA Junior League Division 3N.

Welcher, the regular 1st XI wicketkeeper until he broke a finger in early June, came in at number three and smashed 34 boundaries, including three sixes.

The next highest scorer was opener Adrian Bussey with 21.

The home side were then bowled out after tea for 81, with teenager Harry Gowler taking club best figures of 4-13.

Skipper Sam Mason added a 3-17 spell.

March 3rd XI 279-8, 40 overs (Lewis Welcher 177no, Adrian Bussey 21), Isleham 2nd XI 81 all out, 24.1 overs (Harry Gowler 4-13, Sam Mason 3-17).

On Sunday Wisbech Town lost to Ketton Sports by 82 runs with Ketton centurion Peter Rowe carrying his bat (122 not out) and putting on 149 for the first wicket with Tom Sole in the Rutland League.

The hosts could not build anything near a similar stand and, helped by 41 extras, were dismissed shortly before the close for 190.

Wisbech Town CC 1st XI lost to Ketton Sports by 82 runs

Ketton won the toss and elected to bat.

Ketton 272 for 6 (45.0 overs: Joe Dunning 1-65, Gary Freear 2-65, Wian Pretorius 2-31).

Wisbech 190 all out (44.0 overs: Danny Haynes 43, Josh Bowers 13, Rhys Howell 14, Wian Pretorius 10, Gary Freear 10, Lewis Jackson 18, Tom Jupp 28).
