Swan saves both 48th minute penalty from Ryan Blott and follow-up shot but Pikes level late on

By Pete Woodhouse

Dan Swan made a double penalty save as Wisbech Town drew 1-1 at home to Pickering Town in their Evostik League Division One East relegation six-pointer.

Stopper Swan saved both a 48th minute penalty from Ryan Blott and the follow-up shot from the Pikes who also saw a shot cannon against the Fenmen's bar.

The hosts led through a 54th-minute Toby Hilliard goal in the Fenmen's penultimate home game of the season.

But Pickering Town levelled in injury time as Wisbech dropped more points to their relegation rivals. Blott sent a pin point cross from the left for Matty Turnbull to smash home at the back post, to ensure the Pikes' safety.

As it stands after Saturday (Apr 20), Wisbech are just outside the drop zone, five points ahead of basement side Gresley and three ahead of second from bottom Carlton Town.

Wisbech now on Easter Monday afternoon travel to Stamford for a derby. They host Morpeth in the final game next weekend.
