March look to get play-off aspirations back on track at home to Daventry Town in UCL Premier Division South
March Town boss Ash Taylor says that his side will not be out for revenge when they face Daventry Town in the UCL Premier Division South at the weekend.
The Purple Army ended the Hares' record-breaking run in the FA Vase earlier this year, but the March chief insists that Saturday's clash is all about getting the club's play-off aspirations back on track.
March suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Leicester Nirvana at the weekend, and Taylor said: "It's not about revenge for me, it's about doing things right and playing the game of football.
"We know Daventry are a good side. They are higher in the league than Leicester Nirvana and are pushing for the play-offs.
"They've got experienced players, so we know it's going to be challenging.
"We need to regroup, and the lads need to kind of reflect about what happened on Saturday.
"You try not to get too high when you win or too low when you lose, but losing when you consider the position we're in is difficult to take.
"Every time we've spoken about trying to push for second or third, the lads have let themselves down, so we've just got to focus on the next game, try to win and see where it takes us.
"We want to try to finish in a position where we get a home play-off, and we want to secure that, but we lost at home on Saturday.
"The sides below us have been doing well, but we seem to make it harder for ourselves when it should be easier.
"We need to go out and put that right in these final three games."
Thirteenth-place Nirvana stunned the fourth-place Hares with two first-half goals without reply, but a comeback looked on the cards when the visitors had a player sent off right on half-time.
However, a late goal from sub Denny Escorcio was all Ash Taylor’s men could muster in a disappointing performance.
The defeat still left the Hares in the play-off driving seat, six points clear of the chasing pack, with three games to go.
Taylor wasn't happy with what he witnessed, saying: "We said to the players before the game after the win at Aylestone Park, let's not drop our levels and continue our good run, but we did drop our levels and the reality is Leicester Nirvana were a team who wanted it more than us.
"Leicester are nowhere near the play-offs, and we are pushing for third, so seeing your team perform like that is difficult to take.
"The lads need to take responsibility for what they produced on Saturday. They went down to 10 and in the second half we were better and created some opportunities, but we were still nowhere near good enough.
"They scored two good goals, but we could have defended for both by being brave and putting more pressure on around the box.
"That desire to defend our own box and put our bodies on the line wasn't that today, and that hurts me."
