Fenland Running Club's Didem Ucuncu runs at Cancer Research Winter London 10K in memory of father




Five Fenland Running Club members took part in the 531st King’s Lynn Parkrun.

Team Richards were warming up for the Frostbite Friendly League 5 miler the next day.

Meanwhile at the Sandringham parkrun, Julie Garner came 128th out of 162 in a time of 36:37.

Elsewhere, the Cancer Research Winter London 10K took place on Sunday.

The route goes through the heart of London and the grandeur of historic architecture.

It celebrates the achievement of Edmund Hillary 70 years ago when he became the first explorer to conquer the summit of Mount Everest.

There was a ‘Snowy Summit’ with a huddle of penguins dancing at the halfway point, ‘Husky High Fives’ along the way and at the finish line a pack of very friendly Polar Bears offering selfies.

Nearly £700,000 has been raised so far.

Fenland Running Club member Didem Ucuncu ran in memory of her father, who died from lung cancer 18 years ago, and was delighted to have personally raised an impressive £653.

She was in great form and ran extremely well.

Having completed her fifth 10km race, her focus now turns to training for the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon.
