The Doddington Elmore bowling family have had a superb start to the year in national and international events.

At the end of January Ed Elmore became the National Under-25’s Singles champion.

This success meant he competed in this year’s British Isles Championships representing England in Belfast between March 13-15.

The Championship is held on a straight knockout basis and first game was against Ryan Thomas from Wales. The game proved to be a close affair which finished 21-20 to Ed. The game saw a great comeback with Ed at one point being 16-9 down.

This win set up a tie against Scott Baxter from the Channel Islands. After a 7-7 score line after eight ends Ed cruised to a 21-10 victory to set up a final against Scotland’s Andrew Thomson who beat the Irish competitor in the previous round. Another 21-10 score gave Ed the title of British Isles U25s Singles champion and the opportunity to bring the silverware back to England.

Following the Championship was the Men’s International Series. This year’s 24-player England team included the debut of Doddington’s Robert Elmore (City of Ely club). England were victorious, retaining the Hilton Trophy after two wins against Wales and Ireland to set up the crunch game against Scotland.
