'Don't ignore flood warning signs', police urge drivers on A1101 at Welney

Police have pleaded with drivers to take notice of flood warning signs on a Fenland road.

Officers say two people were seen driving towards the waters on the A1101 at Welney overnight.

The route is currently closed and the water is estimated to be almost a metre deep.

A post on the King's Lynn Police Twitter feed this morning said: "The A1101 at Welney is still flooded following heavy rain the last few days.

"A couple of drivers were seen tonight to ignore signs and still drive towards the water measuring 94cm!

"Please observe the water depth boards and plan your route prior to your journey."

An Environment Agency flood alert remains in force for the Welney Causeway area.
