Both March 1st and 2nd Xl games were called off early Saturday morning following the previous day’s torrential rain.

The Avenue was left awash with the outfield under large stretches of water and there was no hope of play against Tucker League contenders Godmanchester.

The 2nds were due to face Granta 2nd in CCA Senior League Division 1 at Clare College, Cambridge.

Across the city at St Catherine’s College ground the 3rd Xl lost by 32 runs to Granta 3rds in CCA Junior League Division 3N.

Dropped catches and an early batting collapse brought an end to their sparkling five-match winning sequence, as the home side posted 160 all out before tea.

Stuart Arnold returned from injury to take 4-34 and teenager Rob Conyard was again in the wickets, taking 3-24.

Top-scorer for March was No. 9 James Shepherd, who cracked a defiant 37 in the 128 all out total.

The 4ths also managed to play at Sutton, where they beat the home 2nds by six wickets in CCA Junior League Division 5N.

Sutton were dismissed for just 81, the visitors knocking the runs off for the loss of four wickets.

Both Sunday games were cancelled due to rain.

The 1sts were due at Nassington in Rutland League Division 1 and the 2nds at home to Wimblington in the Fenland Trophy.
