Fenland Running Club members take on the Heckington 10-miler
Fenland Running Club members lined up for the Heckington 10 miler.
The show is held annually over the weekend of July 27/28, which this year saw the eventual arrival of summer making running conditions not the most conducive for setting personal bests.
The show opens with the 10-mile race setting off from the showground before heading out to do two loops in through the surrounding country lanes and village before returning to the showground for the finish.
The weather was not ideal on most of the course, however some areas offered respite from the sun and heat of the day which was greatly appreciated by all those running.
Although the conditions were not the most favourable some of the Fenland runners produced excellent performances, in particular Jac Richards who was first in age group and Melissa Milham who took six minutes off her previous best time.
Full results were: Martin Jennings second M50, 19/285, 1-01-50; Simon Hamilton second M60, 57/285, 1-09-16; Tom Richards 10th M55, 93/285, 1-15-57; Nigel Marlow sevenh M60, 122/285, 1-21-47; Stuart Cheslett 12th M60, 142/285, 1-26-01; Melissa Milham 10th FSen, 147/285, 1-26-17; Jac Richards first FV55,170/285, 1-3053.
