Wisbech parkrun is taken over for the day by Fenland Running Club
It was Fenland Running Club's turn to take over Wisbech parkrun on Saturday and provide all the volunteers from the run director down.
More than 40 club members, who train at Wisbech Rugby Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, turned out to showcase the club and what it can offer.
A total of 174 runners descended on Wisbech Park on a bright and surprisingly warm February morning.
Fenland Running Club member Jane Greenwood was celebrating her 300th Parkrun and visitors Rebecca Fitzsimmons and Bernie Lee completing their 100th and Richard Goodley and Stuart Follen completing their 50th.
Fenland Running Club had provided several ‘Pacers’ wearing bibs with times on the back from 20 minutes to 30 and just about every minute in between.
The pacers were tasked with helping other runners achieve the time on their bibs and that certainly seemed to be popular as 40 personal best performances (PBs) were recorded.
As always at Wisbech Park Run the atmosphere was friendly, welcoming and supportive and to cap it all off, to celebrate Greenwood's 300th Park Run FRC members had brought along cake.
