More news, no ads

The sun shone, the wind dropped and the frost lifted to give the best running conditions so far this year for the 440 finishers at the Yaxley Runners and Joggers 15 mile, hilly two lap race at Folksworth on Sunday.

The race attracts runners from far and wide as part of their build-up for the next marathon season, with the focus for many on the Virgin London Marathon in particular.

Several of the 14 Fenland Running Club members were among them with this in mind but there were also some useful place finishes: Maire Irlam was 2nd LV45, Clive Harrod was 4th MV50 and Ian Milburn was 2nd MV70.

Full results: Stuart Follen 91st 1.48.28; Martin Jennings 1.48.28; Clive Harrod 100th 1.49.55; Justin Showell 122nd 1.53.24; Andre Pittock 144th 1.55.26; Maire Irlam 145th 1.55.31; Ian Milburn 167th 1.55.53; Paul Griffin 190th 1.59.37; Sarah Gauvin 194th 2.00.32; Nicky Jennings 222nd 2.05.23; Larissa Follen 384th 2.29.55; Denise Griffin 427th 2.46.51; Sharon Bird 428th 2.46.52; Srah Rippon 429th 2.47.19.

At Shouldham Warren, two FRC runners took part in the Ryston Runners Cross Country 5K, also on Sunday. Dan Carrington finished in 20.59 and Ian King finished in 23.42.
