Wisbech league cup wins down the years




Wisbech Town won the United Counties League Cup on November 21, 1935 with a 3-2 final win over Biggleswade at the Harecroft Road ground.

The final, held over due to fixture congestion from the previous season, was a great fight and was anybody’s game up to six minutes from time when Wisbech obtained the vital goal that meant victory.

Wisbech took the lead through Foreman, then missed a penalty before Biggleswade equalised after 33 minutes. Defender Reg Blackham scored with a long range shot six minutes into the second half only for the visitors to equalise a minute later.
