Fifties by Boxall

Chatteris first team won by eight wickets away at Babraham on Saturday thanks to a good performance with bat and ball.

The home side couldn’t handle any of the four bowlers, apart from 33 from the opener, and they were all out for just 92. Wickets were shared between Ant Palmer 1-18, Mark Leach 2-29, Ant Bamford 2-23 and the workhorse Andy Wool with a brilliant 3-19 off just 9.3 overs.

Chatteris chased down the small target inside 30 overs with the loss off just two wickets, with opener Kurt Cunningham unbeaten on 62 including eight fours.

The second team failed to find a first win of 2013 when losing by 90 runs at home to Milton. The visitors opted to bat first and racked up 229-8 from 40 overs, and the score could have been a lot more if it wasn’t for the late introduction of bowler Liam Boxall, 4-27 from six overs, Chatteris were never up with the run rate and could only manage 139-6 from 40 overs, with a brilliant 61 from Boxall.

On Sunday in the Fenland Trophy Chatteris smashed Doddington by 79 runs at home. Boxall carried on where he left off the day before making a cracking 91, supported well by Oli Bailey (36), Jamie Long taking three wickets for the visitors.

Doddington were all out for 134, with the golden arm of Richard Kaval taking 4-7 from 2.4 overs.
