New Wisbech Town FC centre-back Sam Spencer is 12th summer player to arrive after moving from Yaxley

By Pete Woodhouse

Centre-back Sam Spencer has become the latest player to join Wisbech Town FC as he moves to the Elgood's Fenland Stadium from local rivals Yaxley.

The 25-year-old defender has also been given the captain’s armband by recently-appointed manager Seb Hayes as he becomes the 12th new face to commit to the Fenmen for the 2019-20 season.

Spencer was a youth team player at St Neots and captained St Neots Saints before first linking up with Hayes at Huntingdon Town.

He then had a brief spell with Ryman League side Soham Town Rangers in 2015 and has spent the last four seasons with Yaxley, making more than 150 appearances in that time.

Season tickets for 2019-20 are on sale for the early bird price until July 31.

Cost: Adults £135 (£150 from August 1), concessions £86 (£96 from August 1).

Promotion/relegation matters were confirmed at the 2018-19 Evo-stik Northern Premier League recent annual meeting at Blackpool.

In the North/West & South/East Divisions, the 2019-20 champions and play-off winner will be promoted.

The side finishing bottom will enter a play-off match against a runner-up in Step 5 for a spot in 2020/21.

The top three sides from North West Counties, North East Counties and the Northern League will be promoted to Step 4 for 2020/21.

Two sides will be relegated from each of the two Step 2 divisions.
