March Athletic Club members took part in the Southwold Half Marathon, the 20-mile Oundle race and the final meeting of the Frostbite League




March Athletic Club members took part in the Southwold Half Marathon.

Fiona Graham led the way for the club with a strong performance, finishing in 1hr50min40sec.

Dawn Veal was second for the club with a strong showing as she put in a consistent effort on a difficult course. Kay Dedman was next to cross the finish line, ahead of husband Graeme.

Results: Fiona Graham 1:50.40, Dawn Veal 2:06.48, Kay Dedman 2:13.25, Graeme Dedman 2:24.07, Stephen Cowell 2:32.08, Emma Reed 2:34.04, Smita Gupta 2:41.05, Sue Ward 2:41.06, Mark Darlow 2:56.04.

Three runners banked some key marathon training miles by doing the 20-mile race in Oundle.

Mike Blackledge was the first to cross the finish line for the team in 2:57.01. James Arran secured a sub three-hour time as he continues to build-up towards the Brighton Marathon. Long distance runner Joanne Anderson-Wenn finished in 3:47:18, showing fantastic determination.

The club competed in the final race in the Frostbite League. The team have performed fantastically throughout the series, especially the juniors who achieved third place.

Archie McClure and Archie Bullman earned spots in the top 10 with amazing runs in tough conditions with lots of mud on the course. Liberty Sibthorp was third girl and led the way for the March girls in 11.32. She was closely followed by McClure and Rowan Whittlesey, who had another tight battle. Sasha Bland rounded up the scoring for the team with a great run.

The seniors finished the season with many good performances to secure themselves sixth place overall.

Serge Lambert was the leader for the team this time, finishing in under 36 minutes. Henrik Stoner was second through the finish followed by Kai Stoner just one minute later. Toni Alcaraz led the way for ladies in the club with a top-100 finish. Sam Hodson and Tina Lambert rounded up the top three women for the club.
