‘Fenladies’ hot-shot Sophie Swinden claims first half hat-trick
S-Tech League Cup: Wisbech Town Ladies 8 Park Ladies 0
‘Fenladies’ went into their final game of 2018 with players absent, but with others returning they were stronger than in previous weeks.
Their opponents, however, were struggling and should be given great credit for playing 65 minutes with only nine players before they had a late arrival for the last 25 minutes.
Sophie Swinden opened the scoring and went on to claim a first half hat-trick, with Amy Newell also adding another goal against her former team, to make the half-time score 4-0.
The second half was much the same as the first with the Town ladies playing some excellent passing football and the goals continued to come though Chloe Stanborough (2) and Chelsea King (2).
There were some really good goals scored, with the pick of the bunch both coming from King, the first an excellent controlled volley after good team play out wide and her second a dipping 25 yard screamer that went in under the bar.
Park never gave up or sat back and continued to push forward throughout the game which must have been tough.
The teams have now faced each other in three cup competitions in the past six weeks with Wisbech ladies coming out on top all three times, to cap an excellent 2018 for the host ladies.
