Wisbech Town boss Steve Appleby is looking to bolster his squad with a new signing this week for Saturday’s trip to Felixstowe in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

He will be without Rogan McGeorge, suspended after five bookings, plus Matt Lunn and Steven Reid who are both unavailable, for the long trip to the coast.

But looking further ahead Appleby will now be missing three defenders for next month’s important FA Vase game at St Ives on November 17.

Anthony Reeve starts a three-match ban next week for his dismissal against Linton Granta in the Cambs Invitation Cup and Paul Cousins and Jon Fairweather will be serving a one-match ban for their red cards last Saturday.

Hopefully defender Stacy Cartwright, who is recovering from a nose operation, will be back in the next two weeks .

Appleby said: “It always seems to be that we have players missing for a big game. I will have to try and bring someone in on loan and with three players missing this Saturday hopefully we can do it before Friday.

“I have had a chat to the players about discipline and we do need to cut down on the cards we are receiving. The two sending offs have cost us a win last Saturday but even with nine players we always looked the likely winners.

“It is a long season and we are going to take some knocks along the way so it is far too early to be writing us off because of two draws.”

Wisbech remain in second place three points behind Mildenhall, but third placed Dereham have three games in hand on the Fenmen and are just four points adrift.

Felixstowe, second from bottom, have won just one home league game this season and that came against bottom club Clacton when the new management team of Rob Charles and Kevin O’Donnell took charge for their first game two weeks ago.
