Appleby eyes up a double swoop

Wisbech Town boss Steve Appleby is hopeful of signing another central defender and a midfielder this week as he builds his squad for the coming Ridgeons League season.

A former Boston United defender has agreed to join Wisbech but Appleby said: “I cannot reveal his name at the moment as he wants to let the club he played for last season know first and I respect that.”

With Callum Reed gone to King’s Lynn and Adam Weston joining Deeping, he is also chasing a midfielder and is hoping to agree terms with an experienced player, who has played at a higher level.

“Hopefully I can get both players this week and then we will be somewhere near completing the squad,” said Appleby, who brought in Neal Spafford from Gainsborough last week.
