Away point for Sports

Leverington Sports picked up their first away point in three attempts in the Peterborough League Premier Division at Oakham United with a 0-0 stalemate.

Manager Stuart Webb praised utility man of the match Simon Oakley who has played right midfield, right back and now centre-half, and also Dale Palmer (17) who went off with a cut chin. Captain and keeper Adam Wright made a crucial stop.

In the PFA Challenge Cup stand-in boss Matty Cawthorn scored twice to set up Long Sutton Athletic for a 3-0 win at Hartford including their first clean sheet. Ryan Lennon scored the second goal from 25 yards.

Cawthorn said: “Martin Ward and Rob Ward were awesome in defence. Cymon Lambe went from provider to goalkeeper in the space of 10 minutes after setting up my bullet header.”

In Division Three Long Sutton Reserves bagged their first points of the campaign by winning 2-0 at home to Alconbury Res thanks to strikes by Matthew Radeloff and Warren Withers.

Division Five side Leverington A lost 2-0 to Farcet Reserves.
