Boss forced into action

Thetford 3, March Town 1

March Town, dogged by injuries and suspensions, suffered their fourth successive defeat at Thetford in the Ridgeons Division One last Tuesday night.

The first team squad has become so stretched that manager Jamie Weston was forced to take to the pitch for the first time in four years for the last eight minutes of the game.

Theftford enjoyed plenty of possession and really dominated the game but were a little fortunate with their first two goals in the first half.

The first looked clearly offside and the second arrived after Juliano De Menezes appeared to be fouled in the build up.

Thetford added a third goal after 75 minutes and there might might have been more before that but for some good saves by Lee Brooks and some stubborn defending.

Stu Anderson was pushed forward and scored a very good goal after a great pass from Grant Watson.

When Simon Bates suffered an ankle injury from a poor challenge, March had only one substitute left and that was Weston.

He commented: “I did not really want to go on but it was needs must. I had a few touches and was really suffering for it the next day.”
