Brand may join Town exodus
ASH Brand is the latest March Town player to concede he may be ready to quit the club.
Brand has played at the GER for the last 10 seasons but is now contemplating a move following manager Brett Whaley’s decision to quit and six players following him to Yaxley
The 27-year-old Brand, who first played for March in their under 18 team, did have a six-month spell with Ely City five years ago when Alan Russell was manager at the GER.
Brand, who scored 11 goals last season, said: “I really hoped we would push on from last season and have some success, but now Brett has gone and most of the team look to be leaving as well. It is really disappointing because there seems to be no consistency at the club.
“I am March through and through and I am going to wait until the new manager is appointed and see what his plans are. However I do feel in a bit of rut and perhaps it is time for a new challenge.”
Skipper Luke Pepper has already had talks with Whaley about moving to Yaxley but out of loyalty is also waiting to see who is appointed in charge at the GER.
He said: “I won’t make a decision until I know what’s going on with March. But I have to consider a chance to play at a higher level.”
Dan Jenkins, Adam Rothery, Gav Cooke, Kyle Nolan, Craig Norman and goalkeeper Aaron Butcher have all agreed last week to join Whaley at United Counties League club Yaxley.
Huntingdon, who were promoted to the UCL Premier Division for next season, are also looking to take Lewis Cook, Stu Anderson and Marc Welcher from March.
