Clitheroe treble for Magpies

Jake Clitheroe hit a hat-trick as Long Sutton proved too classy for Peterborough League Division One strugglers Stamford Belvedere winning 6-0.

They now share the lead at the top of the table with King’s Lynn Reserves who do have a game in hand.

Clitheroe scored the first of his goals after just two minutes when Matt Cawthorn put the ball across the face of the goal for a tap in and then Cawthorn added a second soon after.

The Magpies should have added more goals in the first 45 minutes but some good goalkeeping denied them increasing their lead.

Clitheroe scored twice after the break to complete his hat-trick and Cawthorn added his second to make it 5-0.

With five minutes to go manager Vinny Mackie came on and scored with a shot from the edge of the area.

Leverington’s troubles continued in the Premier Division when they lost to bottom club King’s Cliffe 2-1.

Sutton Bridge United enjoyed a 7-1 win in the PFA Challenge Cup against Deeping Rangers A.

Jake Lally hit four goals, Kurt Scott 2 and Joe Sutton also on target.
