MARCH Town boss Paul Crosbie is looking to take two St Neots players on loan this week in time for Saturday’s game against Whitton at the GER.
The two players, a midfielder and forward, are due to train with the Hares this week after Crosbie had talks last week with the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division club.
Crosbie said: “The players will be training with us to give us the chance to look at them and for them to look at us. St Neots do not run a reserve side and are keen to loan out some of their promising young players to gain experience.”
Crosbie is also interested in defender Max Mattless now that Wisbech Town have folded their reserve team. Mattless has appeared as substitute in a handful of the Fenmen’s preseason friendlies including the game against March at the GER. March may also look to try and take forward Danny Emmington on loan as well.
March, still looking for their first win of the season, take on Whitton this Saturday at the GER but will be without striker Robbie Masters while Ash Spendelow and Lee White are also very doubtful.
Crosbie said: “Robbie is unavailable while Ash picked up an ankle injury against Newmarket and Lee injured his knee late on in the game at Wellingborough and could be out for at least a couple of weeks.
“Whitton finished third last season so it looks as though it will be a tough test for us. We have played very well in parts of our three games so far and now we need to reproduce that football in both halves of a game.
“We are just lacking that self belief and we need that first victory to give the lads the confidence needed to go on.
“Our next three games are at home against Whitton and Cornard in the League and then Thrapston in the FA Vase and we need some big performances in front of the home crowd.”
