Diss Town 2,
Wisbech Town 6

Fenmen boss Steve Appleby paid tribute to Danny White who notched his first brace of goals for the club in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier on Tuesday last week.

Appleby said: “He has been magnificent. He offers us a new dimension and leads from the middle of the park.”

In-form Wisbech hit relegation battlers Diss for six to go up to third in the table. Chris Bacon, White (two) and Neal Spafford put the visitors 4-2 up at half-time. Spafford and Callum Reed added second half strikes.

Appleby added: “There were a few good goals scored but Neal Spafford’s second was a great team effort. Conceding goals early in each half knocked the stuffing out of them.

“It keeps us just behind Dereham where we need to be.”

The Fenmen put pressure on title favourites Dereham Town, who Wisbech play in the final week of the season.

Wisbech: Jordan, Johnson, Cartwright, Reeve, Fairweather, Reid, Millson, White, Reed, Spafford, Bacon. Subs: Gale, Jackson, Lunn.
