Davis hits hat-trick

Upwell were made to battle hard to beat Benwick Reserves 4-2 in Cambs League 5D.

Upwell were 1-0 up at half-time thanks to Jack Davis, who went on to complete his hat-trick within five minutes of the restart.

Due to injuries and player unavailability, manager Karl Schultz actually played.

Upwell added a fourth through Regi Edwards.

The player-manager was at fault for both the Benwick goals including giving a penalty away in the last minute.

Upwell are in second position four points off the leaders, Chatteris Fen Tigers.

Benwick top scorer Ryan Smith scored from a scramble and Eddie Revell hit a last minute penalty.

The team would like to wish Eddie all the best as he joins the Royal Navy on January 14.

Upwell have been eliminated from the Reg Haigh & Arthur Peck Cup in favour of Offord United after fielding an ineligible player in the previous round.
