MARCH Town’s new boss Paul Crosbie has been really encouraged by the turnout at his first two training sessions last week.
He reported: “The sessions have gone very well and we had excellent turnouts on both nights. I was really happy with the attitude and application from those that turned out.
“A lot of the players were coming to have a look at us and the feedback I received was very encouraging. Hopefully the training shows that we are serious about taking the club forward.
“From those that turned out we look to have a nucleus of a very good side, but we will not really know until we get the signatures. I know that some are training with other clubs but I want to have a clear idea of who wants be part of the club by July 7 when we will have a session at the GER.”
Wisbech Town players Lewis Thompson and Sam Darlow were present along with current March players Luke Pepper, Marc Welcher, Lewis Cook and Ashley Brand who are also being chased by other clubs at present.
Pepper and Brand are expected to be training with Yaxley this week.
There were also some players from the Boston area taking part including a goalkeeper.
Crosbie has now completed his line-up of preseason games which start with Peterborough Northern Star away on July 10 (6.30) and are followed by July 14 Long Sutton away (3pm); July 19 Parson Drove away (6.45); July 21 Wisbech Town home (3pm); July 28 Sleaford Town home (3pm).
The first league game will be on August 4.
