Fenmen duo back] for Norwich trip

THURLOW Nunn League leaders Wisbech Town travel to Norwich United on Saturday with Jon Fairweather (back from suspension) and Scott Johnson (away in midweek) returning.

Fenmen manager Steve Appleby said: “Norwich will always be a hard task. Three points would be lovely. If we come away undefeated it won’t be too hurtful but while we’re on this roll we want to win. Norwich will be thinking the same – they’re not far behind us.

“They have got a new manager and they will be trying to prove themselves. It will be hard to call.”

Appleby said of skipper Paul Cousins, nursing an achilles injury and who was on the bench on Saturday: “Paul wanted to play again and it was my decision not to play him. Sometimes he’s not the best sub because he wants to play. I’m trying to hold him back and hopefully he will feature in the next two games.”

Last night Wisbech entertained Linton Granta in the Cambs Invitation Cup first round. Appleby said two youngsters were starting: Lewis Clayton, plus Leverington centre-half Dale Palmer in a continuation of a link between the two clubs.

Next Tuesday (October 23) in the League Cup the Fenmen host second place in Division One Newmarket Town, who beat March Town at the weekend.
