Wisbech Town have signed former Norwich City youngster Danny White from King’s Lynn to bolster their midfield ranks.
Fenmen manager Steve Appleby said White (pictured below) has crucial experience of winning the Thurlow Nunn League: “Danny is a quality player who won the league with Wroxham and played in an FA Vase final,” he said. “He has been at the forefront of this situation before.
“We hope he will lift us and we nearly signed him a few months ago. We’ve spoken to him and he’s agreed to sign.
“With Steve Reid having been suspended, Neal Spafford out for two weeks and Callum Reed out for a month we were short of bodies.
“Danny is a box-to-box player who is not the biggest, but doesn’t shirk a challenge.”
White will be available for the two games this week, tonight’s (Wednesday) Red Insure Cup quarter-final at Kirkley and Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division trip to Wivenhoe.
Tom Roberts will again be switched in goal for Lea Jordan and schoolboy Jack Friend will start up front for the cup tie.
Appleby said: “I said we have to a bit braver. It is no good drawing games – losing one and winning three is better. We have to go for it without being kamikaze.
“With the players we have in certain positions we’ll stick with it while it works. The lads are comfortable and happy with it.”
