Long Buckby AFC 1,
Wisbech Town 4
Their eighth win in a row (35 goals for and three against) has brought the Fenmen up to second in the UCL Premier.
This is their highest spot so far in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League in 2014/15 and was thanks to four first half goals at Station Road on Saturday.
Tommy Treacher (13 minutes), Adam Millson (18, 21 penalty) and Danny Beaumont (45+1) were on target.
Basement boys Long Buckby had a much-improved second half when the home side pulled a goal back.
Wisbech: Jordan, Johnson, Fairweather, Wilson (Cousins), Horne, Cobb, Reid, Millson, Lunn (Smith), Treacher (Ford), Beaumont. Subs: Spafford, Bishop. Attendance: 72.
Wisbech Town FC are level on points with Yaxley but Wisbech Town have a vastly superior goal difference of 49 compared to Yaxley’s 30.
Wisbech Town boss Dick Creasey cannot remember the club going on a similar run during the two spells he has been in charge, and said: “It’s an incredible run.
“We’ve come from nowhere and we’re right in the title race. Credit to the lads – they have dug deep. It was hard having a go at them on Saturday night.
“We were 4-0 up and the rest of the game was poor. Our performance wasn’t great but it’s another three points. The lads need more of a challenge, with all due respect to teams like Long Buckby who are at the bottom.
“The games are coming thick and fast which is sometimes a good thing. The run that we are on, you want to keep playing. We’re putting the pressure on AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Holbeach.”

The Fenmen left themselves ten points behind leaders AFC Rushden with three games in hand on Tuesday last week with their seventh win on the bounce.

Luke Wilson scored his second in as many games in a goalmouth scramble from a corner on 63 minutes, Beaumont smashed in a rebound on 71, and Billy Smith rifled into the far corner of the net from 20 yards five minutes later to seal victory.
