Hares boss sweating on availability of injured trio

Whitton 7, March Town 1

Hares boss Paul Crosbie has to assess the fitness of trio Robbie Masters, Lewis Thompson and Andy Bryan before next Saturday’s game at Cambridge University Press.

The depleted side lost Thompson and Masters before half-time with knee problems. They lost a goal after 30 seconds. The equaliser came from Ash Brand after Thompson’s penalty was saved.

Whitton scored two more before the break and the visitors lost three goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half. March lost Andy Bryan to concussion early in the second half.

Crosbie said: “We had five lads in today from the reserves. Our attitude and effort were a lot better than recent weeks.

“They were a good side, better than us. I don’t think our lads deserved to be on a scoreline like that. I can’t criticise them and we didn’t disgrace ourselves.

“Robbie soldiered on and couldn’t put weight on his big toe before being substituted; while Lewis is not the type of player you can lose when you’re short of players.”

Bryan is doubtful for Saturday and Tuesday’s home game with Team Bury after being involved in a collision. Masters collided with the home goalkeeper while Thompson twisted his knee while being tackled. Max Mattless returns from suspension on Saturday and Sam Darlow is probably a week away after dislocating his shoulder.

March: Collett, Gallagher, Masters, Anker, Spendelow, Gibbons, Thompson, Lemmon, Brand, Emmington, Bryan. Subs used: Ogden, Blanchflower, Lorraine.
