Hares trio return for Boxing Day

March Town have a couple of players and their manager missing when they travel to Downham Market today on Boxing Day (Wednesday, 11am kick-off) in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One.

Manager Paul Crosbie will be absent with family commitments, as will Ash Spendelow and Ash Brand. Assistant Bob Warby, goalkeeping coach Mark Forrest and Reserves boss James Bradshaw will take charge of the side.

Returning are Adam Sutton, Michael Anker and Marc Welcher who missed the previous victory over Great Yarmouth. The Hares did not have a fixture at the weekend.

Crosbie said: “I am disappointed to be missing the game, but I have confidence that the squad will be able to carry on our run.”

Wary of a backlash after the management team of their near-neighbours walked out recently due to a dispute with the club, Crosbie said the game should be tight.

He added: “Downham have been going through some changes in recent weeks, but every side in this division are tough.

“If we approach the game in a slack manner we’ll get nothing out of it. If we dictate play we will have a chance of the points.

“I’ve not come across Downham personally. We believe we have got a good enough squad capable of a productive season.

“If we don’t carry on our form of the last two games (which March won), I will be disappointed.”

The Hares are then at home to Fakenham Town on Saturday.
