The scoreline was a little harsh on the Hares, who had numerous attempts on goal in Thurlow Nunn League Division One on Saturday.

Hares boss Paul Crosbie said: “We were 3-0 down at half-time and all three goals were gifted.

“We should have stopped a debatable free-kick and lost a man at the edge of the box; a short goal-kick went straight to the centre-forward; and two men were wide at a back post free-kick for a simple header.

“They’re a top of the league side who are good and don’t make any mistakes; we’re where we are because we make mistakes and are a bit naive.

“With a bit more composure in front of goal we might have hit the target.”

Jake Ogden, Jon Gibbons and Toby Ogbonna all had chances and Aaron McKenna hit the bar before Ogbonna replied from 30 yards which the goalkeeper fumbled.

March: Flintoff, Mattless, Cook, Egbayelo, Dunlop, Darlow, Ogden, Gibbons, Ogbonna, Blanchflower, McKenna. Subs used: Lemmon, Norman, Birt.

Crosbie has centre-half concerns on Saturday at home to Braintree Reserves with Lewis Cook who went off with a quad injury against Whitton and Gary White (hamstring) out for a couple of weeks.

Boston-based Marc Hipwell has left the club due to travel concerns. David Jackson and Paul Richardson return.
