Leverington come back

LEVERINGTON Sports came back from 2-0 down to beat Coates Athletic 3-2 in the Peterborough League Premier Division.

Leverington’s second victory of the season came from second half strikes by a wonder goal from Craig Ablett from 25 yards, and sub James Woods 2.

Assistant boss Wayne Garner said: “We should have had another four or five goals but it was better, we played quite well. We have been struggling this year with taking our chances.

“We have not had a settled team, that’s been the thing this year.”

A sole second half goal from hosts Peterborough Sport Parkway condemned Parson Drove to defeat.

In the Division One derby Long Sutton Athletic recovered from a 1-0 interval deficit to draw a thriller 3-3 with Sutton Bridge United.

Matthew Cawthorn bagged a brace and Matthew Radeloff got a goal five minutes from the end for Athletic. Bridge scorers were Ben Partridge, Nicholas Reims and Lee Still.

Bridge go a point ahead of bottom club Stamford Belvedere while Athletic are seventh.

In the Cambs Lower Junior Cup, Guyhirn Football Club knocked out March Rangers Res on penalties 5-4 after there were no scores in extra time. At full time it had finished 1-1.

In Division Two Leverington Sports Reserves remain unbeaten after scoring three second half goals at Pinchbeck United Reserves in a 3-3 stalemate to keep in touch with the leaders.

Division Three outfit Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 4-1 at Netherton United A, Adam Fitch replying, to suffer their first defeat.

Conor Bird earned Leverington A a Division Four draw at Wittering with a second half strike.
