Leverington Res save the day

Leverington Sports Reserves were the only local Peterborough League side to taste cup success at the weekend.

A brace by Lewis Miller and a strike from Daniel Paynter ensured they beat Netherton United A 3-0 in the PFA Junior Cup.

Premier Division side Leverington were knocked out of the PFA Senior Cup at Pinchbeck United 2-0, while Leverington’s A side went out of the PFA Minor Cup at Farcet United Reserves 3-0.

Sutton Bridge United exited the PFA Challenge Cup 3-1 at the hands of visiting Ketton. Lee Still got the only goal for the hosts.

In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic lost at Powerleague AFC 3-1, James Laing replying, to slip into the bottom six.

Guyhirn go ninth in Division Two after they lost at Ryhall United 4-2, with Andreii Gabriel and Wojciech Kotkiewicz on target.

Division Three leaders Long Sutton Reserves, already in the second half of their league campaign, had a 0-0 stalemate with Uppingham Town Res. All the chasing pack below them have a number of games in hand.

Sutton Bridge United Reserves went down 5-1 to visitors Oakham United A in Division Five.

Toby Killingsworth scored for Bridge, who are just two points ahead of basement side Warboys Town Reserves.
