Chatteris Town FC have appointed Steve Bedford as first team boss as well as announcing a three-year action plan.

It has been confirmed the senior team will be playing in Cambs League Senior A next season after narrowly failing to escape relegation following a valiant late-season battle.

CTFC chairman Shaun Hayden said: “We want to take a completely different direction for the club where we intend to reinvest in the club and the facilities over a three-year action plan.

“This will help in attracting the best local players and develop them through through under 18’s, A, Reserve then the first team with the intentions of keeping club players involved. To achieve this we have appointed Steve ‘Jock’ Bedford as first team manager.

“We also have started a veterans team starting next season to get ex-players back involved in the club and enable them to play local football again.

“We also have a complete new committee where we are still currently looking for a secretary and additional groundsmen.

“We also require a manager for the Ladies football team. We have got a good bunch of ladies with some with coaching experience and have an assistant manager in place so it’s now trying to find an individual who can take the ladies to the next level.”

Bedford managed Doddington last season, and the appointment was made after previous Lilies management team Steve Bright and Leigh Matthews both decided not to be considered for the first team post next season.

Pre-season will begin on Wednesday, June 19 at 7-8.30pm, then Mondays/Wednesdays down at West Street.
