Chatteris lost 3-0 at Great Shelford, but Jack Saunders and Alex Ashley had gone close at 1-0 in the Cambs League Premier Division.
The Lilies conceded an early goal, and manager Steve Bright said: “In the second half we had a lot of the game and pushed for the equaliser but got caught on the break twice.”
On the relegation situation, he added: “If we can get perhaps another two wins from our last five games it might give us a chance as Ely have had some points deducted.”
Wisbech St Mary lost 2-1 to two late goals at high-flying Foxton despite a superb free-kick from 16-year-old Jake Baldry giving them an early lead.
Boss Arran Duke said: “We dominated, and missed chances cost us. We were made to pay for it. The youth lads who came in didn’t disappoint.”
Upwell were well below par in their heaviest 5D defeat of the season 4-1 at March Saracens. Matt Thomas made it 2-1 with his 10th goal of the season.
