March Town Utd 0
Great Yarmouth 2
The Hares lost to Thurlow Nunn League First Division travel specialists The Bloaters who made it full points from three away games without conceding a goal.
There were chances at both ends. March could have taken the lead several times in the first half, on one attack striking the keeper and then the woodwork twice. But the visitors scored at the end of each half.
Great Yarmouth stuck to their game plan of retaining possession and driving through from midfield, and it won the game.
Some individual errors, lack of cohesion in the middle and lack of penetration up front were costly for the 15th-place hosts.
March next Saturday host Braintree Reserves and on Tuesday are away in a derby at Downham Town.
March: Beeny, Evans (Conyard), Brady, Jackson, Goult, Mattless, Cox, Cooke (Brand), Woods, Odain, Barber.
PDFL Division Three
Bretton North End 4 Tydd St Mary 0
Tydd suffered their first defeat of the season against early title favourites Bretton on Saturday.
The Saints felt hard done by when the team stopped after a Tydd player had sustained a head injury but the referee played on and Bretton scored their second. Tydd felt aggrieved again 10 minutes later when they appealed for handball before Bretton scored their third.
The second half began with Saints management opting for a 4-4-2 formation but couldn’t break down a dogged defence. Bretton rarely threatened in the second half but made it 4-0 after 70 minutes as Tydd finished the stronger of the two teams.
