Masters musters late winner

Downham Town 2,

March Town 3

The Hares made it 20 points on the road out of their 28 total points this season in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One on Tuesday last week.

March picked up their first league victory of the month after they were 2-0 up at the break in this derby thanks to goals from Robbie Masters and Ash Brand. Paul Crosbie’s troops were pegged back to 2-2, but Masters won it in injury time.

For Masters’ winner Crosbie said: “A shot hit the post and came out and I closed my eyes thinking ‘I cannot believe it’. But Robbie managed to tap it in.

“In the second half the lads dug in and showed character.

“We’ve been pretty good on the road this year. We were due a bit of luck.”

March: Collett, Ogden, Mattless, Anker, Lemmon, Spendelow, Gallagher, Thompson, Emmington, Masters, Brand. Subs: Barnes, Gibbons.
