Parker caps comeback

TYDD St Mary travelled with an under strength squad but still managed a good 4-1 Boston League Division 2 win at Kirton despite going behind after just 10 minutes via an own goal by Tydd right back Shaun Murfitt.

The Saints levelled immediately when Mark Garner lofted a long ball over the top for stand in striker, Mark Greenacre, to chase and out-muscle a Kirton defender to neatly tuck home. On 20 minutes Tydd took the lead when a good flighted ball by Stephen Cousins found Ben Thompson at the back post to score.

Just before half time, Gary Drake delivered a first-class ball into the box for Cousins to get in front of the keeper and head home.

Early in the second half MoM Aaron Parker collected the ball 30 yards out, went on a ‘mazy’ run past three defenders and slammed the ball home.

l March Saracens’ good form continued as they claimed maximum points in this entertaining 3-2 encounter at William Burt in the West Norfolk Sunday League.

Saracens were guilty of not taking several one on one first half chances.

At the start of the second half the home side took the lead. A shuffle of the pack paid dividends and James Hazel got the important leveller after good work from Alan Setchell. Further strikes from Jim Smith (MoM) and Jermaine Watson sealed a fine team performance.
