Saints get a lesson as run ends

Wisbech St Mary’s good run of results came to a crunching end with a 4-0 defeat at Linton Granta in the Cambs Premier Division.

Wimblington lost 2-0 at Soham United in Senior A in their first game for three weeks.

Dean Stacy said: “We were the better side in the second half and should have made it pay. I was pleased with the performance and we deserved at least a draw.”

Outwell Swifts lost out 2-1 to end a great run of results in controversial circumstances. James Parker scored the goal and was then sent off for alleged foul and abusive language.

Manager Mark Secker said: “I am not saying too much as we have made an official complaint regarding the referee and opposing team linesman. I don’t mind losing if we deserve it but what happened today was wrong.”
