Steve’s seeking to stop stalemates

Wisbech Town boss Steve Appleby says too many home draws are holding back his team’s title challenge.

His side on Saturday hosts Ely, who they just beat away last week, minus the injured Neal Spafford.

Appleby said of the last four home league games which have ended in stalemates: “They’re holding us back. It’s something we have got to rectify, we are better off winning one and losing one.

“I keep looking at the table and there’s all to play for. We had a heart-to-heart after Saturday and we’re going to try a few different things.”

Wisbech travelled in the Cambs Invitation Cup semi-final at Cambridge City last night (Tuesday).

Three officials have visited the Elgood’s Fenland Stadium for the club’s Grade E inspection.

Subject to official confirmation they have recommended that the ground is passed with no further work required. It means that if the club finishes in a promotion position, Wisbech Town can go up.
