Treacher turns into loan ranger

WISBECH Town have allowed striker Tommy Treacher to go on loan to Holbeach United until the end of the season.

Treacher was manager Steve Appleby’s first signing soon after he took the job at the start of 2010.

This season Treacher, who has had a previous spell at Holbeach, was in the starting line-up alongside Andy Furnell but then lost out to fellow striker Ashley Stevens.

He has made 28 appearances and scored six goals.

Treacher came off the bench on Tuesday night to score in the 5-0 win against Histon and Appleby said: “Tommy needs regular games and it has been agreed he can go on loan to Holbeach and return in the summer.”

Aaron Turner has also returned to Lakenheath on loan and Appleby added: “He was out for a spell before and after Christmas. He likes it at the club and will also return in the summer. I want to have the two players back next season.”

Turner has made 15 appearances and scored four goals since his move from Mildenhall earlier this season,

Appleby has denied rumours that Wisbech were about to sign former striker Liam Nimmo. But the Wisbech boss is a keen fan and Nimmo may be back for next season.

Wisbech face Hadleigh at home on Saturday and Appleby is hopeful at Anthony Reeve will have recovered from a groin injury.

They are also in action next Tuesday night in the Ridgeons Premier Division with a trip to Norwich United.
