“Probably the best speaker we have seen,” was the remark made by many of the 60 members and guests who attended March Town Cricket Club’s annual dinner last Friday.
Guest speaker Jeremy Coney, the former New Zealand captain (1984-87), entertained the packed audience in the pavilion with his dry humour and theatrical style. Coney recollected his Test cricket days, especially against the mighty West Indians, who dominated the game during the 1980’s.
The event was organised by life member, Norman Alterton, secretary, Stephen Wallis and committee member, John West. The club are also due to stage their annual meeting at the pavilion on January 27 at 8pm.
