Wisbech Town CC have got off to a great start in the Cambs Tucker League Division One.

They made it two out of two on Saturday after thrashing Burwell seconds by 176 runs as county player Gary Freear blasted 106 off 120 balls, including 14 fours and a six, and Aussie Jack Hargreaves made exactly 50.

They added 114 for the fourth wicket as Wisbech piled up 306-9 in their 50 overs.

Freaar (2-0) also shone with the ball, while Jamie Gollands (40 from 38 balls, three sixes & 3-7) enjoyed a fine all-round day as Burwell were skittled for 130 (S. Rippington 2-27, S. Mutubaki 2-44).

In Division Two March Town are joint-top with Kimbolton.

Chris Ringham took a wicket with his first delivery for the second successive week and added two more inside his first two overs as Huntingdon were rocked at 11-4. Three-wicket hauls for old skipper Ringham (3-17) and current captain Tyler Phillips (3-33) helped bowl Huntingdon out for 128 at The Avenue, a total made to look small by Aussie Sam Freedman, who smacked 75 in a five-wicket home win. Freedman also took 2-30.

Brandon Phillips, who got a first baller on Saturday, hit an unbeaten 62 the following day when March Sunday recorded their first win of the season in Rutland League Division 2.

Phillips was backed by Shaz Akhtar’s 46 in the eight wicket victory away to Oakham, who posted 117 all out (Freedman 4-33, Andy Wright 2-30 and Toby Nulty 2-23).

In-form Sunday 2nd skipper Curtis Oldroyd hit 51 as his side beat Leverington by a 22-run margin in the Fenland Trophy. Leverington were dismissed for 119, Sam Clarke 3-23.
