Epic 140 and last-wicket stand of 82 in Rutland League defeat

By Pete Woodhouse

Not even an epic knock by Gary Freear of 140 and a last-wicket stand of 82 could save Wisbech Town from Rutland League defeat by 10 runs at Barnack.

Joe Dunning took 7-62 off his full 12 overs to restrict the hosts to 232.

Wisbech looked doomed at 140-9. However, number 11 batsman Kieran Haynes heroically survived 22 balls without scoring while Freear hammered away at the other end, hitting 19 fours and three sixes in total off 123 balls.
