Chatteris ace Gill returning to the ring next month
Chatteris featherweight Jordan Gill looks set to take part in one of the first boxing contests after the coronavirus lockdown.
‘The Thrill’ is set to fight former Commenwealth champion Reece Bellotti behind closed doors at the Matchroom Boxing fight camp on July 25.
Speaking to the Fenland Citizen, Gill said: “As long as we can meet all the criteria it should be on.
“Bellotti is one of the hardest hitters in the country at featherweight but I believe that my slick boxing skills will be too much.
“However, I am going to have to concentrate for every minute of the fight.
“I’m feeling good and training is going well.
“A win for me here and I will be ready to move on to bigger and better things.
“I had really hoped that this year was going to be my big breakout year and with a win here I can start to prepare for a massive 2021.
“The lockdown came at the worst time for me as I was meant to be fighting at the end of March.
“But I kept myself in shape, I kept myself on it, and, because I was one of the first shows cancelled I’ve got one of the first opportunities to come back.
“I am happy to be straight back in with a big fight and I want to be around the biggest fighters.
“This is a great step on the ladder. It’s going to be a tough fight but is one that I am confident of winning.”
