Defending holders March beat St Neots on penalties to reach Hinchingbrooke Cup final

March Town are chasing back-to-back successes in the Hinchingbrooke Cup after coming from behind to beat St Neots on penalties tonight.

The defending holders looked to be heading out at the semi-final stage as St Neots took a 2-0 lead into the interval at the GER.

But the Hares' never-say-die attitude saw them find the back of the net twice in the final 20 minutes to make it 2-2 before eventually winning 5-4 from the spot to reach their second successive final in the competition.

Danny Emmington began the March Town comeback with a penalty in the second half as the defending holders booked their place in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup for a second successive season tonight.

The Hares scored all five of their penalty kicks against their United Counties League Premier Division South rivals while St Neots missed one.

It was the club’s second spot-kick success in cup competitions this season following their dramatic 9-8 win on penalties against Cambridge City in the Cambs Invitation Cup back in December.

March will meet the winners of the other semi-final between Deeping Rangers and Eaton Socon on Tuesday, March 18 in this year's final.

March Town: Gill, Henderson, Brumby, Foy, Emmington, Tait, Burrows, Cotton (Williams), Gillies (Tsagium), Allen (Escorcio), Saunders (Biggs).
