WIMBLINGTON came out on top in the local derby against Doddington in CCA Junior Division 2A winning by eight wickets.
Doddington made a rapid start with Barry Carter scoring a quick 25 before Wimblington’s Adrian Bussey ripped through the batting with four wickets including a hat-trick to reduce Doddington to 61-4.
Rishi Bhrambatt then took control hitting 72 as Doddington reached 182 all out. Bussey finished with 4-34, Kris Judge 2-21 and Jason Bullman 2-52.
Wimblington started slowly reaching 65 in the 16th over before losing opener Adam Westwood for 20, Judge continued his good day finally falling for 64. Olly Fox looked very good with the bat seeing Wimblington home in the 34th over finishing undefeated on 67, Matt Day finished with 14 not out as Wimblington won by eight wickets with six overs to spare.
l LEVERINGTON lost their CCA Junior A game against Newmarket side Godolphin by 46 runs.
Godolphin were 199 all out with Aaron Cobb three for 35 and Lee Peck three for 49.
Leverington’s openers Simon Gilbert 62 and Glyn Wilson 30 got the reply off to a good start but then wickets fell cheaply and only Ian Cooper 12 reached double figures as they were 153 for nine at the end of their 40 overs.
