St.Neots 2 Wisbech Men's 2nd 1

After a strong performance last week Wisbech travelled to St.Neots in high hopes.

They started off by far the stronger team, creating many chances, but couldn’t quite find that early goal. Eventually through a great team effort Calvin Bishop slotted it through.

Going into the second half, after a sloppy ten minutes St.Neots managed to equalise. Goalkeeper Will Smithee kept Wisbech in it with a series of great saves but St.Neots still managed to get the winner.

In the closing minutes Wisbech pushed hard but couldn’t quite find that equalising goal before the final whistle in a good effort.

MoM: Will Smithee.

Wisbech Ladies' 2nd 4 Haverhill 2

The ladies had a good start, passing the ball up the pitch well, and resulted in an early goal scored by Lou Sandall.

The pressure on Haverhill's defence saw the ladies get a short corner and they were able to bag another goal from Sue “Swampy” Robinson. Unfortunately Haverhill turned play making the score 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half the ladies continued to play well.

PoM: The whole team because of their hard work on the pitch.

Wisbech Ladies' 3rds 0 St Ives 4’s 6

The ladies knew this was going to be a tough one but headed out full of positivity.

The team appeared to have everything organised and working well but St Ives got a lucky break and hit a clean strike to take an early first goal. Not deterred by this, Wisbech maintained good possession through the first half and any breaks from St Ives were held off by the defence and some quality saves from Helen Pentelow.

St Ives managed to strike again and at the whistle it was 0-2.

Second half, Wisbech still had the belief they could get back in the game but St Ives had got their formation spot on. In the space of 15 minutes they netted three goals.

Wisbech had a succession of short corners and they improve week by week.

PoM: Nicola Greville & Lucy Prior for work rate and determination.

LADIES 1ST TEAM INDOOR TOURNAMENT

WTHC put in a massive effort playing teams in higher leagues than them and managed to come third in their pool and overall seventh place.
